Manchester United Manager, Erik Ten Hagg Gives Out Clear Reasons Why The Team Lost To Sevilla

Manchester United have been knocked out of the Europa League Quater Finals by Sevilla. Sevilla enjoyed a 3-0 win over Manchester United at home with an aggregate of 5 - 2, dashing the Reds dream of winning a quadruple this season.

Erik Ten Hagg speaking via BT Sports gave his thoughts on the outcome of the game:

"It's clear when you make such mistakes, it's very difficult to win a football game."

"I dont know, it's obvious the atmosphere had some influence on the many mistakes we made this evening, but the fans expect we can deal with it, so we have to do better"

"We were not composed, the players made some bad decisions, we lose the battles and Sevilla had more patience, more desire, more willingness."

When asked on the errors made by the players: "The errors are a problem and we can't run away from it, we have a lot of opportunity to work on that and we have to step up and show more character and personality."

How much of an impact do you think the missing players had on the result?: "It's not about that, it's about the players who are on the pitch and they have to perform and I believe in them, I trust them and they have to show and today we were not good enough."

"We showed so many patience and good performance, but tonight we had some occasions we were not ready and it can be. When you're on this level and playing for Manchester United you have to be ready for every game especially at this great opportunity and occasion, Europa League Quater Finals. We gave the win away so we have to blame ourselves."

"It is a huge opportunity missed but it's gone and we can't change it anymore, we have to look forward to the next opportunity."

It is worth noting that Manchester United plays Brighton next in the FA Cup Semi-Final on Sunday.
